Portrait Session at the Royal Academy of Arts & some mystery in London’s Streets

‘Anna was able to capture the exact feeling that I was looking for, improving it with her creativity and unique eye.’

I have photographed the Portuguese thriller writer Nuno Nepomuceno now on 2 occasions - both to provide images for the book jackets and for general publicity for his agent and publisher. These have been exciting projects in which I am asked to conceive and interpret ideas both in advance of the sessions as well as shoot creatively and spontaneously on the actual shoot days. So for these sessions, there is forward planning, permissions, a careful watch on the weather and time of day etc.
For each journey Nuno made to London for our photography sessions, we covered a number of locations. Here are some of my favourites from our session in London’s Royal Academy of Arts where permission was required to shoot some pictures in front of Giampietrino’s painting of the Last Supper which hangs in the splendid fairly new upper floor gallery. The painting forms the centrepiece of the mystery of Nuno’s novel by the same name.
On the same day, we headed to pre-determined locations in central London that I had searched out for some pictures with the right blend of mystery, intrigue or darkness to reflect the spirit of the London described in his novel.
